Music lately

I've come to the conclusion of being mostly disappointed & bored lately with albums I have picked up. But before I get to that, I gotta say that there are a couple albums that came out this spring that I have adored & continue to go back to listen:
1. Jars of Clay - The long fall back to earth
2. Phoenix- Wolfgang Amadeus
Jars, I believe, really came back with a punchy album. Great hooky songs w/ an outstanding sound over-all. They were huge in the mid-90's & then after 'The Eleventh Hour' in 2002, they kind of took a bit of a dive - mainly because they took a different direction in their music (a folky sound). This year they came back with their rockin' goods like they use to bring.
If you just listen to the new Phoenix album, it speaks for itself. Amazing. Their best album yet. I really loved their previous album 'It's never been like that'...but this one takes it up a notch. I was impressed. Great sounding record; Very fun to listen to.
Now down to the disappointing ones:
I was super anxious to get the new Wilco album because I've always loved what they come out with; very refreshing & new. The first 5 or 6 songs on this album were in my opinion, pretty genious... although, I was already tired of the 'Feist-featured' song 'You & I' & their single 'You never know' before the album came out. The rest of the album to me was very stale & boring. Great sounding album, but I just couldn't get in to the last half of the album; and STILL can't. I'm bored already.
I also picked up the new Grizzly Bear album & was super excited about that & came to realize that after 2 and 3 times of listening to it, the best song on the album is 'Two Weeks'...which is the most popular song on the album. I was trying to be impressed by the rest of the album & I just wasn't. Again...very boring. I want to be inspired by a whole album, and there are very few to pick from. Looking forward to the new David Bazan full-length coming out in September; I don't think he'll put anything out that's not 110%.
